LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD

Little Red Riding Hood lives on the outskirts of the woods with her protective Mother. She’s a good girl, but she doesn’t always take her Mother’s instructions to heart. The only people she sees with any regularity are her mother and the Huntsman. She often daydreams of curious things, but with no playmates she has to be satisfied with her closest companions — the trees. When Grandma comes for a visit, everyone is excited because Grandma is so much fun to be with... and Grandma thinks Little Red is old enough now to visit her on the other side of the forest alone. One day Grandma takes ill, and Mother reluctantly allows Red to carry a basket of goodies to Grandma’s house. Mother warns Red not to talk with strangers on the way, and she heads off down the path. As she enters the woods she meets up with a Wolf. He is down on his luck, and makes it his mission to discover where the little girl is going and what’s in the basket. Photos by Tim Poitevin.
PRODUCTION BIOGRAPHIES
Chelsea Moe (Little Red) Little Red Riding Hood was one of Chelsea's favorite children's stories growing up, She is very excited to have been given the opportunity to explore this story on a new level, and hopefully making it a favorite for the Theatre for Young Audiences members as well. This is Chelsea's debut performance at SSR, however, she hopes it is not her last. Past performances include Young Frankenstein (Ensemble), Little Shop of Horrors (Chiffon), and Still Life With Iris (Annabel Lee).
Leslie Youngblood (Ma) Leslie spent over two years touring internationally with the Missoula Children's Theatre before moving to Seattle for love. Most recently, she finished a sold-out run of Knuffle Bunny at SecondStory Rep. Favorite credits include Urinetown (Little Becky Two-Shoes), Pippin (Fastrada), Bat Boy (Sheriff Reynolds), A Funny Thing Happened... (Vibrata), and Les Miserables (Ensemble).
Curtis Jacobson (Grandma) is thrilled to be back on the SSR Stage. He was last seen in BAYOU BUGS as Bertram the frog. Curtis has performed local at Book-It Repertory Theatre, Unexpected Productions, Theater Schmeater, Northwest Actors Studio and the Seattle Fringe Theatre. He has also worked for Disney World Florida, Oregon Cabaret Theatre In Ashland, and Princess Cruise lines Alaska.
Drew Dresdner (Hunstman) This is Drew's first production with SecondStory Repertory. He is excited to be back on stage after an almost two year hiatus following his time touring with the Missoula Children's Theatre. Before MCT he studied vocal performance at the University of Washington and performed in several operatic productions with the department of music including a lead role in the opera Il Mondo della Luna.
MEET THE PRODUCTION TEAM
Alicia Mendez (Director) No stranger to the stage, Alicia has been focusing on performing for the last 4 years, she is excited to be end her sojourn from directing with her Pacific Northwest debut. Alicia has directed both regional and professional theater in Boston, San Diego, San Francisco and Salt Lake. When she's not performing or directing Alicia has the privilege of teaching 8th grade. Special thanks to the cast, Julie, Kyle, Mark and Jen. Lobster.
Kyle Loomis (Stage Manager) moved to Seattle after graduating from Western Oregon University with a degree in theater arts. Since his transplant from Oregon, Kyle has managed or assisted shows at Seattle Musical Theatre, Phoenix Theatre in Edmonds, and The Cabiri Aerial Troupe. This is his first time working with SSR, and he has really enjoyed the change of pace from the cirque world back to his theater roots. Kyle will be back with Cabiri in June for part one of a trilogy - Tewaz.
