HOW I BECAME A PIRATE
Book, Music, & Lyrics by Janet Yates Vogt and Mark Friedman
Based on the book "How I Became a Pirate" written by Melinda Long with Illustrations by David Shannon
Sail off on a fantastic musical excursion when a band of comical pirates lands at North Beach looking for an expert digger to join their crew. Braid Beard and his mates enlist young Jeremy Jacob, as they try to find the perfect spot to bury their treasure. Jeremy finds that adventuring can be lots of fun, but also learns that love and home are treasures you can't find on any map! The whole family will love this delightful and swashbuckling musical adventure! Terrific songs like A Good One to Boot, Green Teeth, I'm Really Just a Sensitive Guy, Talk Like a Pirate, Soccer by the Rules, Pirates Dot Arrgh, and many others will have your audience rolling in the aisles and leaving the theatre secretly wishing for Captain Braid Beard and the gang to one day pay them a visit. Arrgh!
Matt Laine (Max the Pirate) is excited to take part in How I Became a Pirate at SecondStory Repertory. This will be his first step into the world of performing, and he is ready to start it off with a bang!
Chelsea Moe (Jeremy Jacob) Chelsea has all hands on deck to sail the seven seas with this cast of scurvy dogs! Although Chelsea may look like a landlubber, this be not her first adventure with SecondStory Repertory crew. Her past credits have included Little Red in Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel in Rapunzel, and the Ghost of Christmas Future in A Christmas Carol Jr. Now it's time to hoist the sails and batten down the hatches as we begin our epic adventure on the high seas.
Hisam Goueli (Braid Beard) is excited to be performing in his first SecondStory Repertory show. Recent regional credits include Seattle Vice at ACT and Triple Door, Black Flag and Claim of Thrones with Jet City Improv, Rocky Horror Picture Show at Seattle Musical Theatre, THIRST with Parley Productions and Total Family Massage with Copious Love Productions. Aimee enjoys working with kids of all ages at Studio East, The Seattle Symphony, and Bellevue College. She sometimes Music Directs adults shows such as The Boyfriend, Sweeney Todd (RTC), Into the Woods, Carnival (Bellevue College), The Wizard of Oz (St. Luke’s), as well as working with awesome Middle Schoolers at McClure Middle School.
