CHRISTMAS CAROL JUNIOR 2014
Adapted from the Charles Dickens novel by Mark Chenovick
Arrangements and Original Music by Terrence Levitt Alaric
Join us for story time at the North Pole as Mrs. Claus and the elves bring the story of the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge to life in this original adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. Meet all of your favorite characters as we journey through time discovering the true meaning of Christmas. Afraid of ghosts? No problem. The ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future are all portrayed by the zaniest elves in Santa's workshop - and who could possibly be afraid of a silly little elf? Kick off the holiday season right with the SSR family and celebrate this timeless seasonal classic right here in Redmond.
John Clark (Scrooge) is again delighted to be back playing Scrooge in A Christmas Carol for the third straight year here at SecondStory Rep. He has also been seen here as Walter in Keely and Du, Orgon in Tartuffe, Antonio in Much Ado About Nothing, and Orsini Rosenberg in Amadeus. He has also performed at The Seattle Rep. Empty Space, Village Theatre, Pioneer Sq. quiet, Stone Soup, The Virginia City Players, Driftwood and many others around the Seattle area and beyond. Most recently he has appeared in 5 by Beckett with Sound Theatre and I Gelosi with STAGEright. Other favorite roles include: Ellard in The Foreigner, Rosencrantz in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, Mozart in Amadeus, The Old Man in Fool for Love, Clov in Endgame, and Selsdon in Noises Off. Happy Holidays!
Eric Hartley (Marley/Fezziwig/Christmas Present) is pleased to help celebrate the season at SSR, and to share the stage with his old buddy John Clark after far too many years! Last seen at SSR as the Grasshopper Horatio in Bayou Bugs, Eric has spent much of the year further South at RCT, playing multiple roles in Office Hours, the villainous Caldwell B Cladwell in Urinetown, Frank in Educating Rita (a personal favorite), and, most recently, a TimeWarping Transylvanian and the mysterious Dr Scott in The Rocky Horror Show. Many thanks to you in the audience for allowing us to be part of your holidays. Cheerio!
Neil Hobson (Fred/Young Scrooge) moved to Seattle in April, and this is his second show in Seattle. He first played the role of Fred in high school. He has since graduated university in the UK, moved to a different country, and was married this past June. He is looking forward to his first production with SecondStory Rep and hopes to continue performing in the Pacific Northwest. Thanks to his wife Brittany, as well as Teresa, John, Erin, Tyler and the rest of his family and friends for their continued support. Please enjoy the show!
Britt Boyd (Mrs Cratchit) is delighted to revisit SSR’s mainstage after previously appearing in Chess, A Little Night Music, La Cage Aux Folles and Urinetown. Younger patrons will recognize her from countless TYA productions here, where she's played creatures of all kinds! Favorite local credits include The Baker’s Wife in Into the Woods (Seattle Musical Theatre), Mrs. Armstrong in The Best Christmas Pageant Ever (Seattle Public Theatre) and Martha in The Secret Garden (Kitsap Forest Theater). She has also performed locally with Village Theatre, ACT, Living Voices, Theater Schmeater and STAGEright. By day, Britt introduces young minds to theater as a teaching artist. For Michael.
Chelsea Moe (Christmas Future/Jane) Chelsea is thrilled to be back at SecondStory Repertory to perform in this heart warming Christmas Carol! Chelsea was last seen at SSR performing in Theatre for Young Audiences productions of Little Red Riding Hood and Rapunzel. Christmas Carol is Chelsea's first ever Christmas production, aside from playing Penguin Number 2 in her second grade play, and she hopes it isn't her last. Christmas is a magical time of year.
Taylor Davis (Christmas Past/Quartet/Mrs. Dilber/Choreographer) is ecstatic to be back with her SSR family again for Christmas Carol! Taylor received a BFA in Musical Theater from the University of Oklahoma and has performed in, directed, and choreographed many shows over the years. Favorites include: Future/Rose/Jane/Choreography-Christmas Carol (Second Story Rep); Columbia-The Rocky Horror Show, Soupy Sue-Urinetown (Renton Civic), Puck- A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Moth/Maria- Love's Labour's Lost, Bacchae- The Bacchae (GreenStage); Penelope- See How They Run (Valley Center Stage); Kate- Taming of the Shrew, Queen Anne- Richard III (OSP); Fredrika- A Little Night Music, Dora Strang- Equus (University), Jeffrey/Choreography- Godspell (Evergreen Family Theatre); and directing Closer (Orasai) and Death By Chocolate (EFT).
